At the very heart of Donegal, a bridge over the River Finn divides the two towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar. Known as "the Twin Towns", the two towns have much to offer the visitor - three fine hotels, a wide range of quality accommodation and restaurants. There are many excellent pubs with traditional sessions and excellent nightlife. Twin Towns is also reputed to be the home of Irish Coffee!
The Finn Valley Athletic Centre is renowned throughout Europe and the Irish Sydney Olympics team was coached by the centre’s manager, Patsy McGonigle. Sporting entertainment is assured as Twin Towns is the home-ground of the Premier Division League of Ireland team Finn Harps and the county Gaelic pitch. Rally car events take place annually. Walkers can enjoy trails in the Drumboe Woods and around Trusk Lough.
Ballybofey is rich in drama and culture. Many actors of renown began their careers in the Balor Theatre. Local dancers have gone on to perform in "Riverdance" and "Lord of the Dance". As well as the annual "Twin Towns Festival", which takes place each year in August.
It is also a shoppers paradise with Donegal's largest departmental store and a wide variety of shops.
